SANDBRIDGE PORTRAITS is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Back Bay of Currituck Sound. Local families and vacationers have been coming to us over the years for their family portraits.

Our sessions are lifestyle, rather than formal sittings. We enjoy capturing moments of your children playing in the sand and water, interacting with their siblings, and cuddling with you. After taking a few posed photos, we allow your family to have fun while we preserve those real smiles that you love so much.

Sandbridge Beach offers an endless supply of stunning backdrops for your session from beach, to bay, to pier, and paths, and even your vacation home. We're happy to make a location suggestion based on what you like and how the weather is cooperating. We may even introduce you to a hidden spot you've never seen before!

BEHIND THE CAMERA...

Hi, I'm Angela Kirkland, the owner of Sandbridge Portraits, wife, mother, and Sandbridge local. I believe that you everyone deserves a photographer that you can relate to, that makes you feel comfortable and will give you their all. I am committed to making sure that happens at every Sandbridge Portraits session. I can't wait to get to "sea" you soon!

Q- What were you before you became a professional photographer?

I was an elementary school teacher! As a teacher, my days were filled with the excitement, beauty, moods and humor of children. I began to capturing these special moments with brief notes to parents. Later with permission, I began photographing portions of their day and emailing them to the parents. And that…is where it all started.

Q- What do you love most about living in Sandbridge Beach?

As a child, my favorite memories were holidays spent at the beach. Who knew you could actually live on vacation? My list of “Sandbridge loves” is rather lengthy but my favs are the close community of salty locals, the chance to know our Sandbridge merchants by first name, the quiet off-season and the bustling summers filled visitors who become new friends.

Q- What would surprise me about you?

I was a student transit bus driver at East Carolina University on which I met my future husband. Also during college, I was crowned “Miss Featherfest” in a scholarship pageant promoting our local poultry industry!
